Designing a Chocolate Bar

The design challenge: How to design a mouthwatering chocolate bar?

The chocolate bar’s shape does not have any functional purpose but it should invite the customer to eat and look appealing and delicious.

The brief I received was clear – the new design should be original, cool and aesthetic. It should not look neither overly serious nor childish.

My research focused in the chocolate’s shape through the next questions:

What makes certain food look appealing or sexy?
What kind of shapes immediately create the urge to bite\ eat?
What kind of interesting looks of chocolate bars already exists?
What kind of other products have an interesting look?

The creative phase was next:

I presented graphic sketches of ideas that will answer the brief and showcase my unique design style.

Out of the varied ideas 4 different designs were selected – I designed a chocolate bar 3d printed mold so they could be observed one next to the other.

The final design was chosen to lead the brand’s unique aesthetics and style values.
